I am so loving those unique first dances that have been the latest trend after that famous couple surprised their audience with a Dance to “Baby Got Back.”   I found that so original and so much fun.  They really let loose and enjoyed the wedding. I found some others too if anyone is looking for inspiration… ;)

I’m Off to Beirut

Once again, I’m off to Beirut to visit home.  This trip will be for 7 days of non work stress.  I’m honestly just looking forward to eating good home cooked meals and bumming around and of course catching up with my old friends.  So I may be missing in action for that time if the internet isn’t up to speed over there.  I’ll keep you updated.

Supersize Sea Monsters

Today is one of those days where I can’t get enough info.  I’ve been jumping from one subject to another.  The last subject I was reading about was how scientists believe that there are many huge creatures that are living very deep in the ocean that we are not yet even aware of.  From that, I started looking for pics of big sea creatures and came across ABC’s pics of Super Size Sea Monsters.  I also landed on a site portraying the 10 Horrible Deep Sea Creatures for all you men that enjoy weird stuff like that ;)   If anything, it’s good general info.

How Old is Nawal Zoghbi?

After seeing pictures of the lovely Nawal Zoghbi at a recent wedding in Lebanon, my work colleagues and I at work had an argument of how old Nawal Zoghbi actually is.  According to Wikipedia and other sources online, she was born in 1972 which makes her 36 years old.  This shocked most of us because between the number of years she’s been on the scene as well as the many upkeep procedures she has done, it’s hard to believe she’s only 36.  No matter what the age, she is still one of the most appreciated beauties and talents in the Middle East, but is she really only 36?

What Color are You?

Painting from Kazuya Akimoto Art Museum

Everybody has a favorite color or two that they favor.  Mine are blue and white (although white isn’t necessarily considered a color), but there is something so soothing about that combination and maybe if I combine it with a light grey I can create fresh visual appeal of Spring and Winter – my two favorite seasons.

Some people are into warmer colors whereas some are into cooler colors on the spectrum but these articles and quizzes should do a good job to place you where you belong.

The Pros & Cons of the Afternoon Nap

Over the years I have gone through stages where I nap during the afternoon and stages where I don’t need it.  These days I’m pulling a 7am to 11pm shift with no sleep in between.  I personally prefer this to the afternoon nap for so many reasons:

1.  I get tired for the rest of the day (especially when I sleep too long)

2.  Sometimes the whole process of falling asleep, sleeping and waking up and reenergizing can take too long out of the time you have in the day.

3.  Once you get in the habit of sleeping in the afternoon, it’s very hard to break because your body automatically is ready for sleep the next afternoon.

4. You don’t sleep as well at night.

Of course there are alot of benefits to the afternoon nap too such as repair, refreshment, catching up on the sleep you didn’t get the night before and so on.   It even improves memory function.

I did some research on what the ideal nap solution is for those who love to sleep especially after a long day of work.  An afternoon POWER nap consisting of 20 minutes a day is the perfect amount of time needed to rest without feeling tired when you wake up.  The Nap shouldn’t last longer than 30 minutes as that’s when deep sleep starts to set in.

For those who want to counter drowsiness during the afternoon, you can try the following “preventing drowsiness” tips.

The Wedge Shoe: When Fashion Meets Comfort

I finally gave into the fashion trend this summer and bought two pairs of wedges.  One black and one brown.  At first I found them way too bulky so I refused to purchase this type of shoe.  But after seeing many of my friends wearing them and praising the comfort they give, I decided to give them a shot, because comfort afterall is a very high priority for me.   I’m wearing the black pair today and they are quite comfortable.  I’m still trying to get used to walking around with 1 pound shoes and trying not to trip but I must say they are comfortable!

A Solar Powered Bra???

I’m still not sure if this is a joke.  This bra is supposed to give you more energy, become your power source for specific electronic products such as IPOD, phone and mp3 player, and somehow show that you are caring for the environment.  Link.  I really want to know which kind of person would actually wear something like that.

Naked Sushi

The Japanese have always been known for their uncanny creativity and if you’re a Sushi lover and welcome female nudity, there’s a place where you can enjoy both.   Although the concept was born in Japan, NYC’s Cheetah’s Club and Restaurant did not hesitate to bring it into the city’s already wild night life. Sushi, served on a naked woman’s body (or what I call “fish on chicks”) is what makes Cheetah’s such an original and/or controversial place to visit. Here’s what Frank Bruni, a New York Times restaurant critic, had to say about it:

“The young lady’s nipples shone under the purple-gel spotlights but my companions and I were more interested in the uni than the yoohoo yingyang haha. Cheetah’s is a lascivious playground for the brave sushi lover where delicate sushi and sashimi, prepared by Blue Ribbon master Shinsaku Yamakage, are placed over the glistening pallid flesh of similarly delicate women. One of the supine geisha-cum-tables enquired if I or my buddies would like anything stronger than the Arnold Palmers we had in our hands, making, “You wanna sip something harder?” sound almost X-rated. We demurred. After all, we had an African dance class later and this was but a Sunday tea party.”

I’ve never been to this restaurant or anything of the like,  but the idea of having raw fish served off of a naked person’s body (beautiful or not) is not something I find too appealing; I find it rather nauseating. I would rather have them served separately ;) . For the people who find this idea ingenious and wish to experience it for themselves, here’s the link to Cheetah’s NY: Cheetah’s Gentleman’s Club & Restaurant. Suit yourselves!
