Session 1: Laser Hair Removal

I just finished with a full legs and underarms laser session at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic (Virginia Clinics) on 4th ring road.  It took exactly 1 hour and a half and surprisingly didn’t hurt that bad.  Actually the cooling air with this laser machine made the pain almost unnoticeable except of course for certain areas right below the knee.  Fortunately for me, it felt nothing like the hell I had to endure for the Bikini Line I did a year ago.  I guess it’s because the machine I used in Beirut didn’t have a cooling tip and that’s one of the most sensitive areas of the body.

Anyway, first session is over with.  I already signed up for the next session which will be in one month.  The cost is 120KD for full legs and 30KD for underarms. If you want to do your legs on separate session… The lower leg is 70KD and the upper leg 80KD so I suggest you do it together if you can spare the extra cash to save money in the long run.   According to my specialist, I will need around 5 sessions to be practically hair free.  It is suggested to do 3 consecutive monthly sessions and then for the other two sessions when hair grows back after 2 or 3 months.  So all in all, I’m guessing the whole process will take anywhere from 6 to 8 months.

The only disadvantage to my brilliant idea to become hair-free is that I can’t attempt to get a tan until I am finished with my laser sessions.  Because the Laser sessions aren’t as effective on tanned skin.  According to the clinic and most articles on Laser removal, fair skin with dark hair is the best type of combination for optimal results.  Thinner hair and darker skin do not always work well and may take many more sessions to achieve required results.

  2. I do it there too!!

  3. Well I guess it depends on the person or maybe the intensity or maybe the machine. My experience with the bikini hurt like hell. I don’t have a very good memory but I can remember clearly that day cuz it hurt so bad. But as I said, I didn’t have the cooling effect that the new machines have so I’m sure it’s much easier now.

  4. heeeeeeeeeeeey girls i had laser done for my full body, but keep this in mind, the hair wont go away 100% say 90% which is really good, and when ur done with all the sessions, it is normal to have some hair growth now and than.
Ur complaining about the bikini area?? i did the full area!!! and it did not hurt even a bit!!!! dont tell me that u went to that area without using an anesthetic cream????!! ma 9adig! tara this cooling effect thing ma mena fayda! just use this cream numb the area and go for it! 😉 it’s worth it ya banaaat ;p unless u have this weirdo partner/husband that wants hair down there ;r

  5. i agree with delicately realistic
I had my bikini area done and it was very painful, however, I survived and am very glad i had it done. The pain was worth the gain of permanent hair reduction. Next time though, I will take the practitioners advice and use a topical anaesthetic cream such as emla (available at pharmacies in Canada). Apparently, these creams make the procedure very tolerable with very little pain. Without the cream, it felt like each individual hair follicle was being burnt, and the darker the hair and more dense it was, the more it hurt. Having ice packs applied afterwards also really helped reduce the pain. It mainly just hurt during and immediately after, and then not much in the days following.

  6. Hi gals.

I have been plagued by facial hair for so long and have tried creams, electrolysis which left a black marks on my skin, waxing etc until I found this amazing little tool called Epicare. It is just a lil spring with handles on either side. I love, love, love it. It is so affordable compared to laser where there is still no guarantee that facial hair will be totally gone. For gals who are used to threading this is the perfect D.I.Y. tool. Got mine at http://www.epicarehome.com. I have been using mine for 8 months now.

    Sham.
